National Award-winning Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta died on May 27 after falling from the terrace of his Kolkata residence. He was rushed to a hospital in Dhakuria in critical condition but was declared dead on arrival. Known for his debut film Bhooter Bhabishyat and acclaimed works like Aparajito and Borunbabur Bondhu, Dutta was recognized for blending satire with social commentary. Police are investigating the circumstances of his fall, with reports mentioning a suicide note and ongoing inquiries. He had been battling respiratory issues and was working on Aparajito 2 at the time of his death.
