Delhi Hit by Strong Dust Storms and Thunderstorm Alerts Amid Heatwave
On June 9, Delhi experienced strong dust storms with wind speeds reaching up to 120 kmph at Palam, matching a 2001 record. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange alerts for thunderstorms, hail, lightning, and moderate rainfall across various city districts. These weather changes brought temporary relief from intense heat, with temperatures remaining above normal. Flight operations were disrupted, with some flights diverted due to adverse conditions. A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to bring further rainfall and cooler temperatures to Delhi and neighboring states from June 10 to 14.
