Government agencies Nafed and NCCF have begun direct procurement of pulses like tur, urad, masoor, and chana from registered farmers at MSP. This initiative aims to provide farmers with remunerative prices, protect them from market fluctuations, boost domestic production, and reduce import dependence. States have been urged to waive mandi taxes for these purchases, which supplement existing procurement systems.
