
Punjab RERA has ruled that homebuyers who choose to continue with delayed housing projects are only entitled to RERA-mandated interest compensation for the delay period. The authority stated that additional compensation for rent, legal fees, or mental distress is not permissible if the allottee opts to stay with the project. This decision came after a homebuyer sought compensation for rent and mental stress in addition to interest for a delayed possession.
