Starting January 12, 2026, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will extend the train ticket booking window for Aadhaar-authenticated users until midnight on the opening day of the Advance Reservation Period (ARP). Previously, this window was limited to morning hours. This change aims to ensure genuine passengers benefit from the reservation system and prevent misuse by touts. The procedure for booking tickets at computerised PRS counters remains unchanged. Aadhaar verification is being enhanced to make the e-ticketing system more robust.
