
India's Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) is seeking proposals for two sub-schemes aimed at reducing the country's reliance on imported medical devices, which currently account for 70% of its needs. A Rs 500 crore package, announced in November 2024, includes Rs 180 crore for marginal investment support to incentivize domestic production of key components and raw materials. The initiative seeks to bolster the Indian medtech industry by offering capital subsidies for eligible projects, with applications due by January 10, 2026.
