
The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the establishment of a greenfield port and National Mega Shipbuilding Cluster at Dugarajapatnam in Tirupati district, acquiring 2,000 acres. This project, under the central Shipbuilding Development Scheme, will involve a 50:50 Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board and Visakhapatnam Port Authority. The aim is to develop an anchor shipyard targeting 0.5 million GT annually within a decade, with support from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
