Maharashtra has declared January 15, 2026, a public holiday for municipal corporation elections, including in Mumbai. Despite this state-wide holiday, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain open for equity trading. However, settlements for January 15 will be deferred to the next working day, and trading in the debt and currency segments will be suspended. Vote counting is scheduled for January 16.
