Ashok Leyland has inaugurated a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The facility, which began construction in September 2023, has an initial capacity of 2,500 units annually and produces 17-18 seater electric buses. The company states the plant will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs and is part of Uttar Pradesh's growing EV market, which currently operates 700 electric buses.
