The Indian government is moving to allocate the remaining 10 GWh of Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery capacity under its Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This initiative aims to boost domestic manufacturing of grid-scale battery storage solutions, crucial for integrating renewable energy. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has proposed the allocation to the Empowered Group of Secretaries for approval, with the Ministry of Heavy Industries to then initiate a bidding process. This follows slower-than-expected production ramp-up by existing beneficiaries.
