India's foreign exchange reserves saw a significant decrease of USD 9.809 billion in the week ending January 2, reaching USD 686.801 billion. This decline was attributed to drops in both foreign currency assets and gold reserves. Despite this recent fall, the reserves remain substantial, having previously hovered near an all-time high and demonstrated an overall uptrend in recent years, sufficient to cover over 11 months of merchandise imports.
