Ashok Leyland inaugurated its first electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on January 9. The facility, located in the Sarojini Nagar industrial area, will produce EVs, internal combustion engine vehicles, and alternative fuel vehicles for domestic and global markets. The inauguration was attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other dignitaries. The plant, built in a record 16 months, signifies Uttar Pradesh's growing role as an EV manufacturing hub and aims to boost local employment and industrial development.
