India's vegetable oil imports increased by 8% to 13.83 lakh tonnes in December 2025 compared to the previous year, driven by higher shipments of soybean and sunflower oils. Despite this monthly rise, total imports for the first two months of the 2025-26 oil year are down 12%. Palm oil imports saw a 20% decrease, though crude palm oil shipments rose. Non-edible oil imports also declined. This comes as rabi oilseed sowing increased and edible oil stocks are higher than the previous month.
