India's economic and energy security are unlikely to be significantly impacted by the recent US military action in Venezuela, according to the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI). Bilateral trade has sharply declined since 2019 due to U.S. sanctions, reducing India's imports from Venezuela to $364.5 million in 2024-25, with crude oil imports dropping 81.3% from the previous year. GTRI advises India to maintain strategic autonomy and secure energy access amidst global resource competition.
