
Arunachal Pradesh's 1,200 MW Kalai-II hydroelectric project on the Lohit River has received environmental clearance from a Union Environment Ministry expert panel. Developed by THDC India Ltd at an estimated cost of over Rs 14,000 crore, the project is expected to generate approximately 4.85 terawatt-hours of electricity annually. The clearance follows the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment report by WAPCOS Ltd. The project aims to create around 1,700 direct jobs and support infrastructure development in the Anjaw district.
