Amazon Pay has launched a new fixed deposit (FD) service in India, allowing users to invest directly through the Amazon Pay app. Partnering with seven financial entities, including NBFCs Shriram Finance and Bajaj Finance, and five small finance banks, the platform offers interest rates up to 8% annually. Customers can start investing with as little as Rs 1,000 without needing a separate bank account. Senior citizens and women investors may receive additional interest benefits. Deposits are insured up to Rs 5 lakh per depositor per bank under DICGC norms.
