Reliance Industries has denied reports that it has paused plans to manufacture lithium-ion battery cells in India. The company stated its battery storage manufacturing ecosystem plans are on track and progressing as per timelines, including cell, pack, and containerized energy storage system production. This clarification follows a report claiming talks with Chinese supplier Xiamen Hithium stalled due to Beijing's technology transfer curbs, leading Reliance to shift focus to assembling battery energy storage systems. Reliance previously indicated a 2026 target for its battery gigafactory.
