
Currency in circulation has risen to Rs 39.23 lakh crore as of December 31, 2025, marking a 10.2% increase year-on-year, according to the Reserve Bank of India. This growth contrasts with a 5.9% rise last year. Concurrently, overall reserve money decreased by 0.50% in the same fortnight to Rs 47.99 lakh crore. For the current fiscal year, currency in circulation has grown 5.3%, while reserve money has contracted 0.60%.
