
Following relief granted to Vodafone Idea on its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, hundreds of standalone internet service providers (ISPs) and other non-telecom companies are demanding similar government support. These firms collectively owe thousands of crores in AGR dues, stemming from a 2019 Supreme Court ruling. Industry representatives argue that smaller firms are financially strained and require a waiver or similar relief, citing the government's recent package for Vodafone Idea as a precedent. DoT officials, however, indicate that such relief for other companies may require Supreme Court approval.
