A State Bank of India (SBI) report indicates significant expansion in India's banking system between FY05 and FY25. Total deposits grew from Rs 18.4 lakh crore to Rs 241.5 lakh crore, and advances increased from Rs 11.5 lakh crore to Rs 191.2 lakh crore. Bank assets as a percentage of GDP rose from 77% to 94%. The report also notes a faster growth in advances than deposits and a revival in market share for Public Sector Banks.
