India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) concluded 2025 with record-breaking performance in December, processing 21.6 billion transactions, the highest monthly volume ever. The value of these transactions reached Rs 28 lakh crore, surpassing previous peaks. Daily transactions averaged nearly 698 million. While volumes surged, the average transaction value continued to decrease, indicating UPI's increasing use for smaller, everyday purchases. Full-year 2025 saw 228.3 billion transactions valued at Rs 299.7 lakh crore, reflecting significant year-on-year growth.
