
Tata Motors CEO Shailesh Chandra stated that government aid is crucial for electric vehicles (EVs) priced under ₹10 lakh to achieve mass adoption. He highlighted that this segment, which includes popular models like the Tiago and Tigor electric cars, faces significant structural cost challenges, particularly with battery costs making up a large portion of the vehicle price. Chandra also suggested reintroducing incentives for fleet segment EVs, arguing they offer the biggest environmental return on investment. He noted demand for EVs improved significantly after GST cuts in late 2024.
