The Central Silk Board aims to double India's silk value chain to ₹1,10,000 crore by 2030, up from the current ₹55,000 crore. This involves increasing raw silk production from 41,121 metric tonnes to an estimated 54,000 metric tonnes by 2030, with over 70% being mulberry-based. The strategy includes expanding cultivation land, enhancing productivity, and adopting mechanization and technology. While most states are involved, Gujarat is a recent entrant, and Rajasthan is being surveyed for potential cultivation.
