
The fire at an ONGC-owned gas well in Andhra Pradesh's Konaseema district, which began with a blowout on January 5, has been extinguished after a five-day effort by the ONGC Crisis Management Team. The blowout, which caused a massive fireball, was fully controlled on Saturday morning. Operations to cap the well and mudding are ongoing. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted an aerial survey and reviewed the situation, directing officials to expedite compensation for affected farmers. No loss of life or injury was reported.
