Hyderabad police arrested two individuals in early January for their involvement in cybercrime, including a 'digital arrest' fraud and an investment scam. One accused, Kola Manjula, acted as a mule account holder for fraudsters who impersonated officials to extort 90 lakh from an elderly victim. Police recovered 41 lakh for this victim and facilitated over 56 lakh in total refunds to victims through court processes. Authorities urge the public to be wary of unsolicited calls and illegal bank account sharing.
