A 16-year-old juvenile working at a gold jewelry melting workshop in Mayiladuthurai was apprehended within three hours of a reported theft. The juvenile allegedly stole a 1.5 kg gold ingot, valued at ₹2 crore, while cleaning it. The stolen gold was recovered, and the juvenile, a native of Maharashtra, was sent to a government observation home. Police registered a case of theft by a clerk or servant.
