The Pune Charity Commission has filed a case against Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre, run by the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation, for failing to provide life-saving treatment and transportation to a critically ill pregnant patient, Tanisha Bhise. Joint Charity Commissioner Rajni Kiran Kshirsagar found the hospital authorities negligent in their duty. This marks a significant action by the commission, with Inspector Sachin Bakal filing a prosecution case against the hospital and 11 trustees. The move is seen as a landmark step towards enforcing accountability for charitable medical institutions.
