An alleged gangster, Harnoor Singh, accused of planning the murder of AAP sarpanch Jarmal Singh, was killed in a police encounter in Punjab's Tarn Taran district. Police stated Singh opened fire when intercepted, and a policeman was saved by his bulletproof jacket during the retaliatory exchange. Singh, linked to other gangsters, was reportedly involved in reconnaissance for the sarpanch's murder. A pistol was recovered from the scene.
