A retired Assistant Sub-Inspector in Bhopal lost Rs 2.40 lakh to cyber fraudsters who tricked him into updating his pensioner life certificate. The victim downloaded an APK file sent by the accused, which led to the theft of his bank details and OTPs. Although he managed to freeze his account, Rs 2.40 lakh was withdrawn before he could fully secure his funds. He reported the incident to the cyber police station after failing to receive immediate assistance from the helpline.
