A special PMLA court in Shimla has declared Ashoni Kanwar and Mandeep Rana, promoters of Himachal Pradesh's Manav Bharti University, as fugitive economic offenders (FEO). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleges they obtained Rs 387 crore through the sale of fake degrees. The mother-son duo, based in Australia, failed to comply with court summons and warrants. This declaration under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act allows authorities to confiscate their assets, similar to past cases involving Vijay Mallya and Sanjay Bhandari.
