The Patna High Court ordered the release of a 15-year-old boy illegally detained for two and a half months after being falsely presented as an adult in a land dispute case. The court directed the Bihar police chief to initiate an inquiry against erring officials and pay the boy ₹5 lakh in compensation for his physical and mental agony. The boy was arrested in November and sent to jail, despite being a juvenile, due to alleged misuse of power by the investigating agency.
