The Kerala High Court has extended interim protection from arrest for expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil until January 21 in a rape and forced abortion case. The court will hear his anticipatory bail plea on that date. Mamkootathil claims the relationship was consensual and he is innocent, while the complainant has sought to be impleaded in the case. He was previously denied anticipatory bail by a lower court.
