A Mumbai-based software engineer, Ankita Gupta, successfully tracked her stolen mobile phone herself after it was snatched at Varanasi's Assi Ghat. Despite lodging a police complaint, she utilized technical assistance from friends to locate the device in the Manduadih area. Police then raided the location, recovering her phone and twelve others. This incident led to an internal inquiry and the suspension of the Assi Ghat police outpost in-charge for alleged negligence.
