The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Kerala has arrested Kandararu Rajeevaru, the chief priest (tantri) of the Sabarimala Temple, in connection with the alleged theft and misappropriation of gold from temple artefacts. The arrest is based on statements linking Rajeevaru to the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potty, and his alleged role in recommending controversial gold replating. Concurrently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a money laundering case, consolidating previous charges and widening the investigation into financial transactions. The SIT has made multiple arrests, including former Travancore Devaswom Board officials.
