A young man, Akshay Prakash Chavan, was severely injured in Narhe, Pune, after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when Chavan, reportedly intoxicated, fell and was then mauled by the dogs for several minutes. He lay on the road bleeding for hours before sanitation workers alerted the police. Chavan is in serious condition at Sassoon Hospital. The incident has renewed calls for municipal action to control the stray dog population.
