A two-year-old girl, Shanya, died in a house fire in Bhawanipura village, Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday morning. The fire, which started around 9 am, engulfed the house while the child was sleeping. Her mother discovered the blaze and alerted villagers who helped control the flames, but the child had already sustained fatal burn injuries. Police are investigating the cause, with a preliminary inquiry suggesting a short circuit. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
