Ludhiana police have arrested a couple, Shamsher and Kuldeep, for the murder and dismemberment of Davinder, a 30-year-old computer engineer. Davinder had recently returned from Mumbai. According to police, Davinder and Shamsher, who were friends, had a dispute over a financial transaction while consuming intoxicants. Shamsher allegedly killed Davinder, and with his wife's help, dismembered the body into several pieces. The remains were found stuffed in a drum and scattered in an empty plot. The motive is believed to be a financial dispute, and police are searching for a missing hand.
