A retired CGST superintendent lost Rs 9.7 lakh to cyber fraudsters who lured him with promises of high profits in share trading. The victim was added to a WhatsApp group, downloaded a recommended app, and invested money through RTGS. When he discovered his virtual account showed zero balance and his withdrawal requests were denied, he reported the incident to the Vikhroli police, who have registered a cheating case.
