Fifteen years after the Paravur sexual exploitation case was registered, 36 of the 148 accused remain at large. The trial for six accused is scheduled to begin, while 13 have been acquitted due to the survivor reportedly turning hostile or failing to identify them. The prosecution alleges the survivor, then a minor, was abused over a year with parental support, with her father facing a jail term for his role. The case, which led to public protests, has seen 21 convictions and trials completed in 34 of 61 charged cases.
