
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has transferred the investigation of an alleged ricin poison terror plot from the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The ATS had arrested three individuals, including Dr. Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, for allegedly planning a major terrorist attack using weapons and chemicals. Ricin, a highly poisonous substance derived from castor beans, was reportedly being prepared. The accused were booked under the UAPA and other acts, with their handler identified as an ISKP associate from Afghanistan.
