His family claims he was duped by travel agents, sent to Europe for a better life, and then coerced into military service despite his disability. Mandeep reportedly sent desperate video messages pleading for rescue before losing contact in March 2024. His family alleges a lack of support from Indian authorities in their search, with confirmation of his death only coming after his brother traveled to Russia.
