A state government analysis in Indore has linked 15 of 21 deaths in the Bhagirathpura area to sewage-contaminated drinking water, primarily causing diarrhea. While district authorities initially linked only 10 deaths to contaminated water, the medical college's study, based on medical records and symptoms, concluded 15 were waterborne. Autopsies are pending for two cases, and four deaths are attributed to other causes like kidney failure. The government has provided ex-gratia assistance to 18 families.
