Maharashtra Congress vice-president Hidayatullah Patel died on Wednesday morning from stab wounds sustained in an attack at a mosque in Akola district on Tuesday. Police arrested the main accused, Ubed Khan Kalu Khan alias Razik Khan Patel, aged 22 or 25, who reportedly acted over an old enmity or familial dispute. Patel, 66, was attacked with a sharp weapon after afternoon prayers. An IPS officer will lead the investigation, and security has been increased in the area. Five other individuals have been named as suspects.
