
An RTI activist, identified as Rushant Wadke, has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 5 crore from an Andhra Pradesh MP. Police state Wadke used information obtained via RTI to blackmail the MP, threatening to leak it to central agencies. During a meeting arranged for negotiation, Wadke allegedly robbed the MP's personal assistant of Rs 70,000 at knifepoint. The arrest was made by Andhra Pradesh Police with assistance from Mumbai Police. Further investigation is ongoing to apprehend other associates involved.
