A Gurugram court has convicted two Haryana Excise and Taxation Department officials and a clerk in a bribery case, sentencing them to five years imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh each. The officials were arrested in May 2022 for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹7 lakh to issue a GST number to a building material supplier. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap and caught an inspector red-handed accepting an advance payment. The department is reviewing the court's decision for further action.
