A traffic volunteer in Shillong was arrested after a video surfaced showing him allegedly extorting Rs 15,000 from a visitor from Assam. The incident occurred when the visitor entered a no-entry zone. The volunteer reportedly pursued the car, demanded a large sum, and eventually accepted Rs 15,000 after negotiations, taking the driver to an ATM. Police have ordered an inquiry into the matter, stating that seeking cash from violators is illegal and disciplinary action will follow.
