In Assam's Sivasagar district, a 42-year-old man, Ranjit Pandav, was killed in police firing after he attacked his neighbors and attempted to assault police officers with a machete. Pandav, reportedly intoxicated and with a history of domestic violence, first injured his neighbors, Martin and Geeta Pandav, when they intervened in a disturbance. When police arrived, Pandav allegedly attacked an officer, leading to the fatal shooting. The injured couple remains in critical condition.
