A school teacher in Indore, India, lost nearly Rs 1 lakh to fraudsters who used AI to clone her cousin's voice. The scammer, impersonating her cousin, claimed a friend needed urgent surgery and sent QR codes for money transfers. The victim made four transactions totaling Rs 97,500 before realizing the call was fraudulent when the number was blocked and her cousin denied making the call. Police suspect this is Madhya Pradesh's first confirmed case of AI-driven voice-modulation cyber fraud.
