A Karnataka-based businessman was allegedly held captive and robbed of over Rs 2 crore at gunpoint in Thane, Maharashtra, between December 15-18, 2025. The victim was lured to the district by an individual promising investment in his firm. Police arrested the main accused, Ankit Bapu Thombre, on January 6. The accused allegedly used the businessman's net banking details, obtained under duress with threats of a pistol and knife, to transfer funds from his current account.
