Opposition leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati condemned the January 5 killing of Rohit alias Sonu, a 28-year-old man from the Kashyap community (OBC) in Meerut. Police clarified the case was solved within 24 hours, identifying a 16-year-old minor as the accused. The motive reportedly stemmed from an argument over loud music in a tempo, leading to the victim being struck with a brick. The accused, sent to a child reform home, also attempted to conceal the crime by setting the body on fire.
